Comedy Night Wednesday 19th March - 7pm

Comedy Night - Rural Roars

Join us for a night of fundraising comedy, in aid of The Vine Centre. The night will be headlined by not one but TWO Radio Four stars. We will have a bar, raffle and extra little fundraising games to help boost our money raised for the night - so please bring extra cash!

Sarah Mills will open our show. Sarah's series, Bad Bod Squad, has recently been on Radio 4 to rave reviews. Sarah is also known for her work on the Dave TV channel and Channel Four's Last Leg. She presents segments on BBC's Morning Live and has written for Have I Got News For You, The Jonathan Ross Show and Saturday Night Take Away.

Tom Mayhew had a massive success with his solo touring show, I Tom Mayhew. It transferred to the West End where it had a sold out run at the Soho Theatre.  The show was so popular that it was made into series by Radio four and then a follow up series came a year later. His show, Trash Rich, also transferred to the Soho Theatre for another sold out run.

Tom and Sarah will be joined by Matthew Ali and Katherine Kenway. Matthew is an acclaimed up and coming comedian. He's achieved notable successes by making the finals of two national comedy competition; The Max Turner Prize and The West End New Act of the Year. Katherine has a wonderfully under delivered act which was described as "So deadpan she makes Jack Dee look like Timmy Mallet" by the Chortle Comedy Website. She also made the final of the esteemed competition 'Hackney Empire New Act of The Year'

The host for the evening will be the internationally renowned Steve McLean. Steve is a comedian obsessed by retro and geek culture. His touring shows Action Figure Archive, Retrosexual and The A to Z of Hair Metal have regularly received excellent reviews both at home and abroad. The reviewer from the Orlando Sentinel said that he 'Laughed harder and longer than at any other time during the Orlando fringe'. The Daily Mirror once declared his show 'the pick of the fringe' and he's appeared in multiple top ten list over the years (Including Wired Magazine and The Edinburgh Herald).

McLean is super excited to be hosting such a top bill, he commented  "It's not too bad, is it? Two Radio 4 stars and two acts who have been smashing the competitions. I'm pretty chuffed to be asked to host a bill of such quality'

The night has been organised by the lovely people at Rural Roars Comedy. Please buy your tickets ASAP as with the quality of these acts, it's sure to be a sell out.
